Our community centre is located in the heart of our neighbourhood, providing a home for community activities, events and services provided by us and others.

The building is owned by City of Edinburgh Council, and leased to us (Southside Community Centre Association SCIO). We manage the building together for public benefit of those who live, work, study or volunteer in the Southside area, or whom have an ongoing active connection with the centre. We also recognise how useful our building is to those beyond the Southside who are encouraged to use our facilities.

From time to time we have volunteering opportunities available.

Visit our volunteering page, by clicking here, to view any current opportunities.

Within our community centre is a memorial to former pupils of James Clark School who died in the second world war.  The memorial had orignally been installed within the school, but due to its closure it was relocated to our community centre where it has been for a number of decades. The memorial was removed from display and refurbished a number of years ago by Southside Community Centre Association SCIO.

The memorial is currently being held in secure storage, and is expected to be returned to its original position within our building in early September 2026.

Every year we pause our usual use of our community centre and transform into ‘Zoo Southside’, a fringe venue.
