Southside Community Centre Association is proud to be working in Partnership with Sikh Sanjog and Regional Screen Scotland to pilot Universal Cinema in Central Edinburgh. ‘Universal’ is a new term for a cinema that is truly welcoming to all, respecting the very different experiences and contexts that local cinemas operate within.
Kan Kan De Ohle was released in 1970 and is a classic of Punjabi Cinema. It was a popular choice for collective viewings in local Pakistani and Sikh communities in Edinburgh in the 1970s. We are showing this film, both as a joyful celebration of this tradition and also to explore the importance and relevance for our diverse communities today.
